N is for Nature Walk.

When my kids were small, we would go on nature walks regularly. They would carry a small bag to collect items in that they could bring home for further study. We might walk around the neighborhood or walk along the ditch in the back. Occasionally, if my husband went with us, we would go to an old sand pit behind our house. The kids loved going out for walks and really loved being able to bring back the things they found on our walks. Be it leaves, grass, flowers, even weeds, they found these items interesting and worthy of more study. It is a good way for kids to learn about the world around them and a great way for families to spend time together out in nature.

M is for Menu.

I have gotten myself into the habit of making a menu for the week before grocery shopping. It helps to keep me to the list and helps keep me sane when it’s time to make dinner! We are always so busy that I don’t usually have time to wonder what’s for dinner and try to plan it out that afternoon. But if I make a menu, I can have all the ingredients on hand for meals for every night. I don’t necessarily plan which night will be which dinner, though sometimes circumstances demand a quick meal, a crock pot meal, or one that takes more prep time.  Over all, even though it can seem drudgery, planning a menu each week has really helped me out.

J is for Jesus Changing Lives.

Many people today may read the Bible and think that the people portrayed in its stories are holier than us, or had a better “chance” since God spoke directly to them or they actually saw Jesus. But there are many people alive today who know that Jesus is still changing lives. I have often heard it said that the best sermon has no words. I came across something like that in “Cardboard Testimonies”. I hope that by seeing these folks, you will see how Jesus is working today to change lives.

I is for Independent Candidates

I is for Independent Candidates.

I guess that I have been for “indies” for a while now. Neither my husband nor I joined a club in college. Instead, we were “independents” and we liked it that way! (And yes, all us “indies” joined together to participate in intramural sports!) As then, I still like to be considered an independent. Last presidential election, I voted for a third party candidate. This election I will likely do the same. However, today I watched a third party debate between Ralph Nader and Chuck Baldwin. I actually liked what they both had to say and would happily vote for either one of them before I would vote for Obama or McCain. I wish all us “indies” could agree as much as Baldwin and Nader did/do, and would ban together and vote in an Independent Candidate for something really different!
