H is for Hard Luck.
And when you are a teen, hard luck seems to often be around you. Of course I know that teens often only see the “luck” side of it, and that often it is also a lack of work or something else. But sometimes when your kids are down, you just gotta sympathize with them.
Right now, this is where my son is at. He has had a hard couple of days and part of it seems to be translating into a hard school year. From Chemistry to Basketball, things are not looking up for him and he is having a hard time. As far as basketball is concerned, it is motivating him to work harder in that area. Hopefully he can stick it out in Chemistry too!

G is for Getting a Trusted Internet….for FREE!
Internet safety is such an important item that many of us are missing. And because the internet has become such an integral part of our daily lives, it is imperative that we be able to trust our browsings, business, and very identities in our online pursuits.
Comodo’s Trusted Internet Manifesto has some very interesting things to say in this area. They believe that internet safety should be free for all and not just those who can afford to pay for it. They are working to provide trust and safety with every online and digital interaction. Imagine being able to check the reliability of every interaction immediately! I guess this is why the Melih Abdulhayoglu blog about Trusted Internet is excited about the idea and why the Press release about Trusted Internet Manifesto is also making its way around the internet. Getting a trusted internet for free is important to every internet user!

F is for Frost vs. Nixon.
This Saturday, my son and I will be going to view the play Frost vs. Nixon. This is a reenactment of the interview between David Frost and Richard Nixon. This interview is where Frost elicits an apology from Nixon. Stacy Keach is performing in the role of Nixon. The show has gotten good reviews. I am looking forward to seeing this performance and hope to learn something from Frost vs. Nixon.

E is for End of Season.
My daughter played on the homeschool volleyball league this year. It was much more competitive than playing for the YMCA. The team consisted of 6-8 graders and they played against private schools. They also played in two tournaments. This was only the second year for the organization to have a junior high team and for most of the girls, this was their first time to play volleyball. It was a good experience and my daughter learned a lot, became a stronger player and improved her game quite a bit. It was also good for her personally. She was voted as co-captain by her team mates and she played the position of setter. She was a team leader and at times had to be the one to talk to the referee. This is a big step for her and I think it was really good for her. Last night our JV and Varsity teams played their homecoming game and the junior high girls were there to hold the banners and throw toys into the stands. Then there was a huge pizza party all to mark the end of the season.

D is for Did You Know?
This was one of my first blogs and may be one of my favorites. It is nothing more than a compilation of random thoughts and things that I’ve learned and found out about. I like this kind of trivial nonsense and thought what better “topic” for a blog! I have been keeping up with it for a couple of years now. It was rejected recently at Pay Per Post but has just gotten reinstated. I am really happy to hear that! Did You Know? is such a fun and easy blog to keep up with!

C is for Church Dinner.
Last night our congregation hosted a dinner for hurricane clean up crews who have been working away from home helping to get our community restored after hurricane Ike. We were so pleased to have collected enough money to serve a very nice meal for these folks who are living out of trailers eating sandwiches and fast food most meals. The menu included baked ham (complete with brown sugar and pineapple glaze), baked beans, potato salad, green salad, and cookies and ice cream for dessert. I think it turned out very nice for all involved. This is one church dinner that I think was truly appreciated.
